What is The Global Dow?
The Global Dow is stock index of the 150 largest, blue chip corporations around the world.
The list is constantly being calculated and is ever changing, with a senior team at the Wall Street Journal curating the index. Each corporation that makes it onto The Global Dow does so because of its size, global presence, success and potential for the future.
Where have you heard about The Global Dow?
Wherever you are, you have most likely heard of the companies that make up the Global Dow, as only companies with a truly global presence make the cut. Apple, Amazon, Microsoft, Nike, Nintendo and Walt Disney are just some of the stand-out names on the index.
What you need to know about The Global Dow
The corporations making their way onto the 150-stock index aren't simply the largest, wealthiest companies in the world today. The Global Dow also takes into account a corporation's potential for the future and their global reach.
So, just because a corporation is seeing great success in their own country right now, doesn't mean they are guaranteed a spot on the list. They have to have an established presence around the world and be innovative moving forward to make the cut.
Also, on The Global Dow, everything is equally weighted. This means price movements on larger stock and smaller stock both carry the same impact on the index.
