What you need to know about the National Association of Health Underwriters.
They’re a non-profit professional organisation founded in 1930. They represent more than 100,000 licensed health insurance agents, brokers, consultants, general agents and benefit professionals. The NAHU also provide information and advice on healthcare insurance for consumers, including a searchable list of agents who've signed up the NAHU’s Code of Ethics which requires agents to make recommendations with the customer’s best interests in mind.
As well as providing professional development and resources for its members, the NAHU has an advocacy role and lobbies and advises the federal government on health care reform. They state one of their primary goals is “to promote access to affordable health insurance coverage”.
