What is the mai Index?

mai Index

A composite index representing the price movement of common stocks on the Market for Alternative Investment.

Where have you heard about the mai Index?

The Market for Alternative Investment (MAI or mai) is a stock exchange of Thailand for small and medium-sized businesses.

What you need to know about the mai Index.

The mai was established in 1998 by the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) to create fundraising opportunities for small businesses with high potential growth and provide Thai investors with investment alternatives. Being listed on the mai can boost a company’s image and credibility and make it more competitive. Stocks on the mai have smaller market capitalisations that those listed on the main SET.

The mai Index is calculated by multiplying the Current Market Value (CMV) by a hundred, then dividing this figure by the Base Market Value (BMV). The calculation is adjusted in line with modifications in the values of stocks to eliminate effects other than price movements from the Index.
