UK housebuilders stocks rally on homebuyer loan revival
Sept 28 (Reuters) - British housebuilders stocks surged on Monday after the government said it would confirm a new equity loan programme for first-time buyers in next month's budget, reviving a policy designed to boost home ownership and support construction.
Shares in Persimmon PSN.L, Barratt Redrow BTRW.L, Taylor Wimpey TW.L, Vistry VTYV.L and Berkeley Group BKGH.L rose between 6% and 23%, leading gains across London's indices.
The policy, a revival of the "Help to Buy" scheme, is aimed at injecting growth into the economy by increasing demand for house building, as well as assisting first-time buyers.
