Arab Finance: The Egyptian Petrochemicals Holding Company (ECHEM) and its subsidiaries produced around 4.6 million tons of petrochemical products and generated $2.6 billion in revenue during fiscal year (FY) 2025/2026, ECHEM Chairman Alaa El-Din Abdel Fattah said.

The results were supported by exports worth $1.8 billion to 50 countries, including new markets in Spain, Brazil, Cyprus, Romania, and Slovenia. Domestic sales reached $742 million during the FY.

Abdel Fattah presented the results during ECHEM’s general assembly, chaired by Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi.

Badawi praised the growth in petrochemical production and the sector’s expansion into new export markets. He called for continued coordination among the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC), the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS), and ECHEM to increase output from petrochemical units operated by their subsidiaries.

The minister also directed ECHEM to prepare a five-year plan for the petrochemical industry aligned with the country’s targets for increasing oil and gas production and strengthening Egypt’s role as a regional gas trading hub.

The plan will account for projects to connect Cypriot gas fields to Egyptian infrastructure, which are expected to provide additional feedstock and production inputs for the petrochemical industry.

Badawi also called for the continued development of occupational health and safety systems suited to petrochemical operations. Employees across petroleum sector facilities should participate in identifying and mitigating risks and exchanging relevant knowledge and experience, he added.

ECHEM is already proceeding with a five-year plan covering the 2026–2030 period that targets eight strategic projects and the local production of 20 new products.

The projects would have a combined annual production capacity of 6.5 million tons and require a total investment of $10 billion, with expected annual revenue of $7 billion, creating further opportunities for investment, exports, and sector growth.
