Shopping for insurance with Meta's Muse

By Reuters News

** As investors assessed Muse, BMO analyst Michael Zaremski tried to use the personal artificial intelligence agent from Meta Platforms META.O for insurance shopping

** In summary, Muse almost saved him ~$800 on car insurance "but then the kinks and errors hit"

** Zaremski fed Muse information including current terms & conditions including prices for home, auto, umbrella policies along with pictures of his roof

** The experience was better than ChatGPT but required as much time as buying insurance through a broker, according to the analyst, who said he didn't receive satisfactory quotes from GEICO, owned by Berkshire Hathaway BRKa.N, nor Progressive PGR.N after 22 minutes

** While GEICO quotes looked like money savers, kinks in the system didn't allow him to go forward

** Muse found a Progressive offering similar to Zaremski's current policy with ~$800 savings. But when he "tried checking out, it said the rate only applied if I bundled home" and Progressive's system didn't allow Muse to toggle up how much replacement cost coverage would be needed for home

** On Wednesday, Meta shares were up ~1.5% at $747.39 compared with its earlier high of $763.90

** Shares of Progressive were down 1.3%, on track for sixth consecutive lose. Berkshire shares were up 0.7%
