Primavera hires ex-Occidental, Chevron executives as Venezuela oil takeover nears

By Reuters News

- Primavera said on Tuesday it hired former Occidental Petroleum OXY.N and Chevron CVX.N executives to lead operations at the company as it prepares to take over oil fields in Venezuela.

The appointments come as Primavera prepares to assume operations of oil fields in Venezuela under agreements signed with the Ministry of Hydrocarbons and PDVSA in September.

Here are more details:

  • Former Occidental Petroleum executive Oscar Quintero will lead Primavera's operating team in Venezuela

  • Quintero most recently served as president of Occidental's enhanced oil recovery division and previously held operational roles at Shell SHEL.L and Hess

  • Primavera appointed former Chevron Venezuela executives Mario Gandara as its chief commercial officer, Jorge Castro as senior vice president of finance and business management, and Ivette Lopez as vice president of legal and compliance. All of them previously held similar roles at Chevron Venezuela.

  • Primavera also named Troy Finney as vice president of operations, John Grimmer as vice president of engineering and evaluations, and Michael Jensen as vice president of health, safety, security and environmental operations
