- US engine maker GE Aerospace said on Friday it signed multiple sales and service agreements in China worth more than $12.9 billion during the China International Import Expo (CIIE), a record signing value for the company at the annual show.

China's largest import expo and a signature initiative of President Xi Jinping opened its ninth edition in Shanghai on Thursday morning.

Among the deals, China Eastern Airlines 600115.SS will purchase 202 LEAP-1A engines to power 101 newly ordered Airbus A320neo-family aircraft, with the agreement also covering spare engines and long-term service support, GE Aerospace said in a statement.

The US company also signed a separate agreement with the airline for 14 spare LEAP-1A, LEAP-1C and CFM56-7B engines, according to the statement.

There was no immediate announcement from China Eastern Airlines regarding the agreements with GE Aerospace.

Separately, GE Aerospace said it reached supply and repair agreements with MTU Maintenance Zhuhai, a joint venture between China Southern Air Holding Company Limited and Germany's MTU Aero Engines MTXGn.DE, during the CIIE.
