CBOT corn ends slightly higher in recovery from one-month low

- Chicago Board of Trade corn futures ended slightly higher on Friday, after pre-weekend buyers emerged when prices fell early to a one-month low due to disappointment over a lack of details about Chinese buying, analysts said.

  • There were no concrete signs yet that China agreed to buy US corn in conjunction with a summit between Presidents Donald Trump and Xi Jinping this week, traders said.

  • The US is expected to release details on the outcome of trade negotiations with China on Monday, US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer said.

  • US farmers are harvesting corn and soy crops but facing delays due to rain.

  • Heavy rain is expected across the central and southern Midwest, central and southern Plains, and Delta later next week, forecaster Vaisala said.

  • The US Department of Agriculture is scheduled to issue a weekly update on US harvesting progress on Monday.

  • CBOT December corn ended up 3/4 cent at $5.28-1/4 per bushel after dropping earlier to $5.14-3/4.
