Arcadis falls as WSP abandons takeover bid

** Shares in Arcadis ARDS.AS fall nearly 8%, set for their worst day since February, after Canadian engineering firm WSP Global WSP.TO dropped its takeover bid for the company

** The Dutch engineering and consulting firm says it has noted that WSP has decided not to proceed with a public offer for all its shares

** Arcadis says WSP's two proposals were carefully reviewed and unanimously rejected by the board as fundamentally undervaluing the company's intrinsic value, strategic position and future prospects

** The Arcadis stock is at the bottom of Europe's benchmark Stoxx 600 .STOXX index
