GLOBAL MARKETS Shares edged up in Asia on Thursday as investors bet the Federal Reserve is finally getting the jump on inflation, delivering its first rate hike in more than three years and calming a global bond selloff that had sent long-term yields soaring.MKTS/GLOB WORLD OIL PRICES Oil prices fell in early trade on Thursday, extending the previous day's losses, as reports of Saudi Arabia offering extra crude cargoes through Oman reduced fears of supply disruptions in the Middle East.O/R AFRICA STOCKS For the latest news on African stocks, click on .J SOUTH AFRICA MARKETS The South African rand weakened on Wednesday, shrugging off stronger-than-expected retail sales data and stable inflation expectations as investors waited to hear the U.S. Federal Reserve's interest-rate decision. GHANA GAS PIPELINE State-owned Ghana Gas plans to make a final investment decision by early next year on a long-discussed $500 million pipeline project that would send supply from its gas processing plant in the western part of the country to industries in the southeast, CEO Judith Adjobah Blay said on Wednesday. IVORY COAST COCOA Ivory Coast's cocoa grind rose 21.3% year-on-year in August to 47,646 metric tons of beans, data from exporters' association GEPEX showed on Wednesday.
KENYA SAFARICOM SALE Kenya's government will appeal a court ruling that ordered the cancellation of a deal in which it sold an extra 15% stake in telecoms firm Safaricom SCOM.NR to South Africa's Vodacom VODJ.J, Finance Minister John Mbadi said on Wednesday.
