British online food delivery company Deliveroo announced Monday that it is partnering with frozen food specialist Picard Groupe SAS to offer express deliveries across France, including in more than one hundred cities.

The latest partnership follows others that Deliveroo has already announced with Carrefour SA and Casino Guichard Perrachon SA in France.

France expansion

Deliveroo said its latest partnership follows a period of in-depth testing, with 17 stores in Ile-de-France. The tests have enabled the company to strictly define delivery times across the cold food chain, to ensure that Picard products reach the customer at the right freezing temperature. “The delivery departments have been defined so that the average delivery time is less than 10 minutes for a Picard order,” Deliveroo said.

“We are very happy to be able to offer our customers the products of the favourite brand of the French, we are very honoured by the confidence shown in us by Picard, and proud of the intense work produced jointly by our teams upstream of this launch. and notably enabled the validation of a delivery protocol that fully respects the cold chain,” Melvina Sarfati El Grably, managing director of Deliveroo France, said in a statement.

Deliveroo also said the expansion is in line with its omnichannel strategy and highlighted how extra grocery delivery, either on-demand or on-demand convenience, is a growing segment of its offer to customers to “support changes in consumption habits”.

Ireland expansion

The announcement comes as London-based company continues to expand its services in Ireland.

The Irish Times reported Monday that Deliveroo has now moved into the counties of Louth, Kildare and Meath.

The publication reported that as a result of the expansion, Deliveroo’s services would now be available to 39% of Ireland’s population, or to 1.9 million people.

The difference between trading assets and CFDs
The main difference between CFD trading and trading assets, such as commodities and stocks, is that you don’t own the underlying asset when you trade on a CFD.
You can still benefit if the market moves in your favour, or make a loss if it moves against you. However, with traditional trading you enter a contract to exchange the legal ownership of the individual shares or the commodities for money, and you own this until you sell it again.
CFDs are leveraged products, which means that you only need to deposit a percentage of the full value of the CFD trade in order to open a position. But with traditional trading, you buy the assets for the full amount. In the UK, there is no stamp duty on CFD trading, but there is when you buy stocks, for example.
CFDs attract overnight costs to hold the trades (unless you use 1-1 leverage), which makes them more suited to short-term trading opportunities. Stocks and commodities are more normally bought and held for longer. You might also pay a broker commission or fees when buying and selling assets direct and you’d need somewhere to store them safely.
