Apple´s much vaunted launch of the iPhone X appears to have got off to a blistering start as demand appeared to far exceed supply.
Just 10 minutes after sales began, customers were being told that they would have to wait a month before they could expect to receive the new smartphone.
Apple began taking orders for the $999 device at midnight California time, with the new smartphone scheduled to be despatched to retail stores at the end of next week.
While the reports suggest strong consumer appetite for the new device, it could also suggest that Apple has somewhat miscalculated production levels.
iPhone 8 weakness
Recent weakness in sales of Apple´s new iPhone 8 has been partly attributed to customers biding their time for the iPhone X launch.
Among the iPhone X´s features are a 3D camera and edge-to-edge OLED screen.
