Jobs boom – but benefits not evenly shared
Discouraged workers fear there are no jobs for them
The Bureau said: “Both the labour-force participation rate, at 62.7%, and the employment to population ratio, at 60.4%, changed little in May.”
While monthly and even yearly labour-market statistics give a snapshot of the employment scene, the figures later today may point to longer-term trends in terms of job opportunities and labour-market turnover. Put simply, the more openings are available, the greater the likelihood of a higher turnover rate, as employees are less inhibited about switching jobs.
